Skills Classes
Weekend group sessions in Redfern. Where most kids start their basketball journey.
Skills Classes are our core program. Every weekend, kids come together to work on real basketball fundamentals in a structured, supportive environment. We offer both girls-only and boys & girls classes.
Your child doesn't need experience. They don't need to know the rules. They just need to show up ready to have a go.
Classes run during the NSW school term. Current term finishes the last weekend of March.
Boys & girls programs
Open to everyone — the same quality coaching in a mixed environment.
Foundations — Boys & Girls
Their first taste of basketball. We introduce the basics — dribbling, passing, shooting, and movement — through fun, age-appropriate games and drills. The focus is on coordination, confidence, and falling in love with the game.
Last class this term: Sunday 29 March
Girls programs
Classes designed specifically for girls — a supportive, encouraging environment where they can thrive.
Intermediate — Girls Only
For girls who know the basics and are ready to level up. Sessions focus on ball handling, shooting mechanics, defensive skills, game IQ, and competitive drills. They'll be pushed, supported, and surrounded by girls who love the game as much as they do.
Last class this term: Saturday 28 March
What they'll work on
Every session follows a structured plan. We don't just roll out the balls and let them play. Your child will work on:
-
Ball handling
Dribbling with both hands, crossovers, protecting the ball under pressure
-
Shooting
Proper form from the ground up, catch-and-shoot, movement into shots
-
Footwork
Pivots, stops, cuts, triple threat position
-
Defence
Stance, positioning, how to stay in front of their opponent
-
Game IQ
Reading the play, making decisions, understanding spacing
-
Competitive drills
Applying skills under pressure in game-like situations
Sessions finish with games and scrimmages so they get to use what they've learned straight away.
Why parents choose Skills Classes
It's structured.
Every session has a plan. Your child will know what they're working on and why. Progress isn't accidental — it's coached.
It's welcoming.
First-timers train alongside kids who've been coming for months. Everyone starts somewhere, and nobody is made to feel behind.
They'll actually want to come back.
We work hard, but we have fun. The kids push each other, celebrate each other, and leave wanting more.
Runs with the school term.
Classes follow the NSW school calendar, so it fits around your child's schedule. No sessions during holidays.
See it for themselves
The best way to know if Skills Classes are right for your child is to come and try one.
No commitment. Just turn up, join in, and see how they go.
