Ready to Get Serious About Getting Better

Basketball skills training for boys and girls aged 7-9. Sundays in Redfern.

Boys & Girls Ages 7-9 Sundays 3:00-4:00pm Active Kids Accepted

Your kid loves basketball. They play at school, they shoot hoops in the driveway, they watch highlights on YouTube. But they are not getting better. What they are missing is someone actually teaching them how to play.

You can see the gap growing. Their friends are joining "elite" programs and you are wondering if your kid is falling behind. But you also know that too much pressure at this age burns kids out. You don't want elite. But you want your kid to develop too.

So you are stuck. The rec league is not developing them. The elite programs feel like too much too soon. And somewhere in between there should be a coach who actually teaches your kid how to read a defence, make decisions and play the game the right way. That is what you are looking for.

What makes this different

1

A professional coach.

Not a parent volunteer or a uni student with a whistle. A professional coach with 5+ years experience, WWCC-cleared and first aid certified. Someone who actually knows how to develop young players.

2

A coaching methodology that creates results.

Every session is designed to help your kid build real skill and perform in the game, not just at practice.

3

12 kids max. No exceptions.

We turn bookings away to keep the ratio tight. Your child will not get lost in a crowd of 30 kids with one overwhelmed coach.

What they get

  • Real skill development
  • Confidence through competence
  • Character and discipline
  • Fun that challenges
  • A pathway to rep
  • Expert coaching: WWCC-cleared, 5+ years experience
  • 12 kids maximum
  • Indoor venue, year round

What parents are saying

"James is an excellent coach. He is wonderful with kids and knows how to teach them and motivate them. Our son thrived under his guidance and really developed as a player. James is knowledgeable, experienced and kind. He is our son's favourite coach. I would recommend him to any parents or teams looking to further develop in basketball."

Clementine

Parent

"My son has been taught by James over the last five years in a variety of different settings, ranging from private lessons, to group skills coaching and team training. From young beginners on their first dribbling drills to guiding a team through challenging technical concepts, James displays a strong depth and breadth of knowledge. A through-line in James' coaching is self-sufficiency: getting the student to think through their basketball challenges and guiding them to a solution. This methodology has helped my son be a more rounded basketball player (and a more thoughtful kid). I thoroughly recommend James."

Adam

Parent

"My boys in year 5 and year 7 have been training with Coach James in both private and team basketball training for several months now. Coach James is very capable of structuring the training sessions tailored to the boys' developmental needs. Timely feedback during the game, training or encouragement afterwards are always there. While being passionate to the game with good energy, he is composed and always presented himself in a calm manner. In short, Coach James is fantastic and will help aspiring basketball players to approach the game in the right way."

Meet the coach

James has spent over five years developing young basketball players. He understands the balance this age group needs: enough challenge to grow, enough fun to keep them coming back. His focus is building complete players who think, not just react.
